In a new interview with The New York Post, legendary music producer Tony Visconti recalls the poignant final conversation he shared with his longtime collaborator, David Bowie. Visconti worked with Bowie from the 1960s until the music icon’s death in 2016. The 80-year-old producer said during their final conversation, Bowie was “whispering” to him on the phone, making it hard to hear him. “He goes into another room, and he says, ‘I’m going to be a grandfather.'” Bowie’s son Duncan Jones was expecting a baby, and his grandson, Stenton David Jones, was eventually born on July 10, 2016, six months after the singer died on January 10. Visconti produced Bowie’s last album, Blackstar, released just two days before he passed away from liver cancer. Visconti said Bowie mentioned he was working on a new album during their last talk, which he was excited to hear. “He goes, ‘Yeah, well, right after we get over the holidays, we’ll get together, and I’ll let you hear the music,’’ Visconti recalled.
