The recording console used to make the Beatles celebrated 1969 album Abbey Road has recently been restored and is set to be sold via the online musical equipment marketplace Reverb.com. The Beatles’ EMI TG12345 recording console will go on sale beginning on October 29, through the official Reverb shop of London recording studio collectors MJQ Ltd. The console was custom made for EMI studios back in 1968 and was used to capture the inventive sound the Beatles were looking for while recording Abbey Road a year later. “Abbey Road is one of the best albums that’s ever been made, and it sounds so good because of this recording console,” said Dave Harries, who took part in multiple Beatles recording sessions using the console. It was the first of only 17 total consoles ever made by EMI, and was later used on solo recordings by all four members of the Beatles, including John Lennon’s single, “Instant Karma!,” George Harrison’s iconic All Things Must Pass, and Paul McCartney’s McCartney.
